Disaster recovery

How quickly will your website recover if disaster strikes?

Most companies we speak to are already backing up their websites but that's often not enough. No matter how well you plan, the disaster that means you need to restore from backup will almost always occur at the worst time possible. The web developer or IT person who set it up might be on holiday so you need a documented disaster recovery plan to ensure you can restore service to your customers as soon as possible.

Why aren't my backups enough?

  • Do you have a documented procedure for restoring from your backup?
  • When is the last time you even tried restoring from your backup?
  • How long does it take to set it up a new server?
  • How long does it take to restore your backup - how long will your site be offline?
  • If your server failed completely, how long would it take to get a new one?
  • What if you hosting provider failed completely?

We're sorry if the questions above have worried you so much that you now can't sleep at night but it's better you know the truth! If your website costs you money when it's not online, you need to make sure it's always online!

Let us help. We can work with you to create a backup and disaster recovery strategy that is right for your business. Maybe you want your website or application back up within an hour or perhaps you just need to know how long recovery would take. If it's not acceptable that it should ever fail, we can suggest ways to ensure that your site automatically recover from failure without intervention.
